Tickets have just been released for Fashfest 2016, Canberra’s largest annual red-carpet event, available through the Fashfest website.
Held over three nights, 29 September to 1 October, this year’s event promises us six distinct shows and one total fashion experience.Fashfest is now in its fourth year, and its second hosted at the award-winning National Convention Centre, with the venue brought to life by Canberra’s Elite Sound and Lighting. I’m not shy about my previous skepticism about the National Convention Centre as a venue, but I have to say I was blown away by the transformation that the venue undergoes, and just how fantastic last year’s event looked. Last year I had the great privilege of being invited to sit front row at the Fashfest events, and I was really impressed with the look of the new event format. And I cannot wait to see what this year will have in store for us. Fashfest will continue to bring Canberra the very best local, national and international designers, with more than 40 who will showcase new collections on the catwalk, worn by a record number 140 models. Audiences will be treated to performances of twenty-five musicians all marshaled by director of Music Ashley Feraud, and six original films will be woven into each show, all by Canberra filmmakers. There really isn’t much else in the world like the buzz of a fashion show, and if you have never been before I would strongly encourage you to attend. It’s a culmination of the hard work by the Fashfest team, the passion of the designers and artists, and the glitz and sparkle of the crowd; that all blend together to make each night a dynamic and exciting experience, each different to the last.
That’s all very well and good I hear you say, but what is it going to cost me to attend?
Well, less than you would think.
New this year is a $49 silver ticket, set for students and to attract more young people to the event. Group bookings are also available for silver seating—buy five tickets and you’ll get one free (rows 3 to 7 of tiered seating).
There are also special experience packages, which include an exclusive guided backstage tour, available for VIP and Platinum ticket holders.
The full break-down of pricing and available seats is below, but my hot tip is that if the VIP ticket price is not within your budget, aim for a Gold Ticket in row 2 of the tiered seating, or a Silver Ticket row 3 or 4 of tiered seating. These seats offer a great view of the runway, from a little above the other available, and they’re really in the Goldilocks zone of comfort and best view.
