This fantastic event kick-started the series, which will be held every Thursday until the end of the year. Lucky’s Speakeasy and The Barber Shop at QT Canberra have joined forces to bring a brilliant line-up of grooming, style and lifestyle help for Canberra’s gentlemen. There’ll be ‘late night touch ups’ available until 9:30pm in The Barber Shop, men’s tailoring whilst drinking an old fashioned in Lucky’s Speakeasy, a How to Dress Like James Bond night and other nights that focus on Summer Accessories, Summer Swimwear and Boys Toys.
Tonight was also the launch of QT Canberra’s Movember activities in support of men’s health and the special new partnership between ‘This is Beard Season’ and ‘The Barbers of QT’ to raise awareness of the importance of melanoma checks for men.
Beard Season is a movement turning beards into life-saving icons in the fight against melanoma, and challenges those most at risk (namely men aged 18-45) to book a skin-check with their skin specialist or dermatologist.
I got the chance to chat with Beard Season founder Jimmy Niggles, and on top of hearing about the fantastic work that the charity is doing in spreading melanoma awareness, I was sheepishly forced to admit that I have not had a skin-check myself in a very long time and am, in fact, very overdue. I’ve now got a stern reminder to book myself for a check ASAP.
Eager to set the standard and raise much needed funds to change the face of men’s health throughout Movember, QT Canberra’s Barber Shop is offering the following fundraising packages:
– QT Shave –Tidy-Shave package. Valued at $120, the package costs $100 with $25 donated to Movember
– QT Canberra will donate $10 from all other shave services undertaken during the month to Movember ensuring guests who may not be ‘Mo-ing’ can still shave for the cause.
– This is Beard Season #Project60 playing cards will be sold for $45 with full proceeds to the Beard Season Charity.
The Movember launch was just one of QT Canberra’s ‘MEN INC. Thursday’s’ being held until the end of the year – a celebration of the finer things in life, the speakeasy-styled evenings at Lucky’s Bar will include late night touch ups at The Barber Shop and displays of the latest seasonal trends by MJ Bale, Braddon Tailors and other key local fashion outlets.
If tonight’s event was anything to go by, Men Inc. will quickly become the hot-ticket for Canberra’s most charismatic journeymen and women to celebrate the pursuit of gentlemanly perfection – from impeccable style to excellent health, immaculate grooming and fine Scottish Whisky courtesy of Chivas Regal – This is Men Inc.
