I love creating daily outfits in combinations of blue and white. There is something so fresh about the combination of the colours, and something so considered and cool. It never fails to remind me of beautiful Willow china pieces, which I have always admired for their beautiful blue and white designs. I have seen several designers reference and even incorporate the blue and white porcelain into their designs and collections over the years, and it has always struck me as incredibly beautiful. Today I decided to give it a go myself, and to see what sort of fun that I could have with blue and white pieces from my own wardrobe.
I am quite pleased with how this blue and white daily outfit came together in the end, and I am wearing:
Blue and white gingham blazer (part of a suit) – Larsens Country Store, ebay
Blue and white large checked tailored cotton shirt – Euromerican Tailors, Hong Kong
Orange, blue and white diagonally striped silk necktie – Brooks Brothers Makers
Gold-tone tie clip – gift
Brown leather belt – Sportscraft
Grey straight-legged jeans – Armani Exchange, hand-me-downs
Brown leather shoes with buckle detail – Raphael Steffens
I decided to go with a grey jean over a blue, as I feel that it helps to balance the blue and white more firmly. I would be interested in trying it again with a white jean, however the idea of a white jean sort of terrifies me. I am a notoriously messy eater, and I usually have two or three pieces from my wardrobe hanging around waiting for some delicate spot cleaning. White jeans feel like I would be inviting all manner of laundry horror upon myself.
