Hustle & Scout

Hustle & Scout Final Market for 2015

It seems that I will get back to Canberra from three weeks of holidays just in time for the final Hustle & Scout Markets for 2015!

Hustle & Scout Twilight Fashion Market and The Forage will host their final event of the year on December 5 at a new location never before used for an event – a multi-level car park!

The car park, which will be the event’s third venue for the year, forms part of the recently opened Little National Hotel in Barton. The hotel is situated on the doorstep of Parliament House, boasting spectacular views over iconic landmarks of Canberra. Market organisers Tegan McAuley and Belinda Neame, were approached by the Doma Group earlier this year with an idea to inject more cultural activity into the precinct and celebrate the opening of the new hotel.

After attracting close to 10,000 visitors to their last event, held at the Old Bus Depot Building in Kingston, Ms McAuley and Ms Neame are ready for a new challenge and hope this new, unconventional market venue will capture the curiosity of locals.

“Holding a food and fashion event in a multi-level car park is a whole new ball game for us, but we’re excited because we like to do things differently – this suits our brands perfectly”, says Ms McAuley.

The Forage, who will be presenting their largest food and drink line-up to date, will be located in the outdoor car park of the hotel. Featuring close to 40 vendors, The Forage will welcome a suite of new vendors such as Bush Taco Girls, Yang’s Malaysian Food Truck and Smoothie & Co. The outdoor live music lounge, which will feature local talent such as Kaleid, The Feraude Trio and GhostNoises, will lead into the multi-level, above-ground car park where Hustle & Scout will showcase over 60 fashion designers across two levels.

Staying true to their mission to provide people with an immersive and unique Canberra experience unlike other markets, visitors can expect an entertainment program that showcases a colourful mix of local creative businesses.

Oh Happy Day – Party & Events Fair

This Saturday Canberra will play host to its first Party & Events fair, OH HAPPY DAY, at the National Portrait Gallery. Oh Happy Day is the coming together of events planners, wedding specialists, caterers, stylists, florists, photographers, designers and all things ‘Party’.

This gorgeous new event has been a labour of love from the creative minds behind Canberra’s most popular market events, Handmade Canberra and Hustle & Scout, and will be a one-stop-shop for anyone planning a luxurious, on-trend and inherently local event. (more…)

Canberra Spring Weekend Excitement

Spring Weekend Excitement

We’re onto our second weekend of Spring already and this one promises to be a doozy! There is so much happening in and around Canberra, and it is a fantastic time to visit if you happen to be planning a jaunt to the Capital.

I thought that I would take this opportunity to share with you the three local events that I will be attending across Canberra this weekend, so that you can add them to your calendars if you haven’t already.

Hustle and Scout: Style Scouting April 2015

On Saturday I had the great pleasure of attending the Autumn/Winter Hustle and Scout Twilight Fashion Markets at Hangar 47 in Fairbairn as the official Style Scout for the event. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, with an amazing turnout and a fantastic array of local designers showing their wares, and vendors peddling a staggering array of street food fare. I love Hustle and Scout and think that it is one of the most exciting things happening in fashion for Canberra, and I look forward to each new market, just waiting to see what our local talents will have on offer. I photographed a fair few people on the day who all had a special something going on, and the below are just a sampling of my favourite looks from the day. (more…)

Hustle & Scout: Style Scouted

Yesterday was the first birthday of the Hustle & Scout Markets here in Canberra, and I headed out to the gorgeous new location at Hangar 47 at Fairbairn to spend the afternoon Style Scouting the other attendees for the Hustle & Scout Facebook page.

I had a really great time at the markets, and I have to extend a huge congratulations to Tegan and her team for an amazing job well done. The space looked fantastic, the talent on display was phenomenal, and I truly cannot wait for the next market to come around.

Below is a selection of my favourite looks from the day, with very brief reasons as to why their looks caught my eye.

Ladies to the left looking effortlessly chic with great pops of colour.

Couple to the right looking relaxed, but still dressed-up for the weekend!

At left- not taking themselves or their clothes too seriously.

Fantastically dressed couple! Loved everything about his look, wanted to steal her amazing sweater
(Where did you get it???)

Great looks that compliament each other on the left (love the hat).

Loved the guy on the right’s look, especially those killer shoes.

Their blazers/black jeans combos! A winner whichever way you look at it.

Great use of muted colours on the left, and truly amazing bag game.

Weekend casual without looking sloppy on the right (and loving the man bun too!).

These two were my favourites of the day. From the Louis Vuitton Samur to the nude leather boot, both rocked their looks head to toe and looked fantastic doing so.

Daily Outfit: Fairbairn

20140927_aThis afternoon I headed out to Fairbairn to the Hustle & Scout markets, to check out the stalls from local designers and purveyors of Delicious foods.

I was also there to act as a Style Scout for the crowd, and I spent the majority of the afternoon stalking around looking for well dressed guys and gals to snap a picture of for the Hustle & Scout Facebook page. I’ll have a blog post featuring my favourite menswear looks up at some stage tomorrow, and all of my Style Scouting images should be available on the Facebook page by tomorrow afternoon.
